Few things are more conducive to lingering contemplation than a visit to a well-illumined, un-busy overseas grocery store in the middle of the day, strolling up and down the aisles without a clear plan, taking in all the strange delights you can't get at home. Nothing is too lowly to consider placing in your tote. A bottle of Lambrusco for two bucks? In you go. Multiple varieties of pasta sauce containing wild boar (cinghale)? Sure. Forty-five minutes and 23 euros later, you're at home on your bed eating from a jar of Cantabrian Sea anchovies. [True story.]
Great atmosphere, just a 30-minute walk from the Pratello, and hey, it's quality Serie A football. Fans of the visiting team are kept in a literal cage for their protection.
